SOI
What is a Synthetic Ownership Interest (SOI)?
A Synthetic Ownership Interest (SOI) is a virtual good within OneSeason.com
What determines the value of a SOI?
Supply and Demand determines price within the market so all potential inputs to public perception could affect this including, but not limited to on-field performance, off-field activity, legacy prospects, etc.
Does a player or teams performance determine their price?
Well, that is up to you and the rest of the market. Supply and Demand determines price, and on-field performance is just one of the potential inputs to public perception that could affect this. Other factors might be off-field activity, legal prospects, etc.

TRADING
How does the trading market work?
It is an electronic platform providing real time quotes and order matching between buyers and sellers of SOIs. It is a free market system driven solely by supply and demand. The total value of SOIs is determined by market forces. At no time does any OneSeason entity or affiliate seek to influence or manipulate the total value of SOIs through artificial mechanisms including, but not limited to, market makers, specialists, ghost traders, statistical models or predictive algorithms. OneSeason does not participate in any proprietary trading. In fact, OneSeason does not participate in the trading market whatsoever; we only facilitate it.
I have funded my account. When can I start trading?
You may start trading once your funds have reached your OneSeason account. Funds transferred by credit card clear almost immediately, while other methods of transferring money can take longer to clear.
Why has my order not been filled?
Our electronic trading platform has no market makers or specialists acting as middlemen. Outstanding trade orders are matched automatically but there may not be a buyer/seller on the opposite side of your order at all times. You can use the Trade Orders screen to see the outstanding orders for any SOI.
Do SOIs trade out of season for their respective sports?
Yes! You can trade all sports, all year round, hence the name OneSeason!
Can players or teams be taken off the market?
If the price of an SOI continues to decrease it will keep reverse splitting until, in the most extreme case, there is one SOI with zero value. This is part of the purpose behind the splitting mechanism, to allow the market to expand and contract as appropriate.
What happens to retired players?
This depends on you and the rest of the market. SOIs continue trading even after retirement. Some SOIs of former players may decline in value while others may fluctuate differently depending on comebacks, legacy prospects, new careers (commentating/coaching/etc.), off-field activity, etc.
Why don't you offer the ability to short SOIs?
We do not participate in the market whatsoever and shorting requires that you borrow shares from somebody else. While we cannot provide this functionality a third party certainly could (hint, hint developers). Shorting helps price discovery in the market, ensuring that prices accurately reflect their traded value.
What is a split or reverse split?
In a split the number of SOIs outstanding is increased and the price/SOI is decreased. For example, in a 2 for 1 split you would have twice the number of shares worth half the price. This is done to increase the number of shares outstanding because there is a lot of demand. Your percentage of ownership is not affected and the split should make sales easier. In a reverse split the number of SOIs outstanding is decreased and the price/SOI is increased. For example, in a 1 for 2 reverse split you would have half as many shares worth twice the price. This is done to decrease the number of shares outstanding because there is low demand. Your percentage of ownership is not affected and the reverse split should make sales easier.
When do shares split or reverse split?
When the SOI weighted average price for a period of time leading to the close of trading hours is above $20/SOI there is an automatic split. When the SOI weighted average price for a period of time leading to the close of trading hours is below $0.75 there is an automatic reverse split. This does not affect the percentage of ownership but only the number of shares outstanding. Splits and reverse splits are used so that the system can expand and contract as appropriate and also so that users with any account size can access at least one SOI.
What happens if partial shares are created during a reverse split?
Any fractional SOIs that are created in a reverse split can't be traded, although they continue to exist in your account in case a future split causes them to become a full SOI that can be traded. For example, if 7 SOIs of a particular player are held and there is a 1:2 reverse split, those 7 SOIs will become 3.5 SOIs at twice the value (Reverse Splits do not change Total Value or Percentage of Ownership). 3 SOIs can be traded and if there is a future Split the half SOI will become a full SOI that can be traded.

IPO
What is an IPO?
IPO stands for Initial Player Offering. It is the original issuance of SOIs to the market. We refer to this as the Primary Market (where SOIs are created and distributed).
How do you decide what players or teams to issue?
This is a demand pull system where users (the market) determines who is issued, when they are issued and the valuation (# of shares) of each issue.
How do you decide who gets allocated SOI - IPO's?
Allocation of SOIs in the IPO process is determined by a formula consisting of: time priority (first come, first served), amount of live time spent on the site and the number of trades made. Time priority is by far the largest component.
How do users express interest for the issuance of a player, team, league or sport?
Use the Request button on the profile page of the player, team league or sport thatyou would like to see issued. Those that are the most highly demanded will be issued.
How do you express interest in participating in an IPO?
When you see a Notice of Upcoming Issue displayed on the Home page, you can use the Place Order form in your account to request a certain number of shares of the IPO. You must have adequate Free Cash available in your account to be reclassified as Reserved Cash. You may not be allocated all/any of your requested shares in which case your Reserved Cash will be reclassified as Free Cash in a corresponding amount.
Do users that requested to see a particular player traded then receive priority in that player's IPO?
No. As mentioned above, the allocation of IPOs is based on time priority, amount of live time on the site and number of trades made. You should request issuance for anything that you want to see trading but that does not mean that you will have priority in the IPO
